Lydia and Mia came up trumps with another suggestion for a new venue for our playdate: Toy Kingdom in Suidobashi, right next to the Tokyo Dome leisure complex. The rollercoaster was practically overhead and indeed we could hear it rumble past every few minutes the whole time we were playing there. I could rave for a long time but in a nutshell, I was amazed by this kids recreation place and wished I had known long ago. We spent 5 hours there and still hadn't seen all it had to offer. There were several of each toy so not many fights, and everything was clean and worked. First was a cavernous area given over to building your own train tracks and electric train sets, also model cars and road systems galore. There was another huge area with thousands of pieces of Lego and other construction type sets, and a climbing structure with slides.
We had a picnic lunch in the dining area as re-entry is not allowed, then moved on to an even larger play area. Dolls houses and dolls with acessories, play kitchens, Aquadoodle and Etchasketch, educational toys, video games. Too much to list. Predictably, I had to drag Emily away and only a small purchase from the onsite toy shop helped. After all that stimulation she fell asleep on the way home and I moved her to her bed, where she carried on sleeping for an hour and a half, while I worried about my disappearing evening. When she woke she got upset and again I remembered why I had dropped her nap back in April. I managed to get her to bed at 8.45 though she found many reasons to keep me from leaving her room.
