13 December 2010

A very wet day and cold with it. Despite Emily being in a very bad mood and extremely uncooperative, we went to Toy Kingdom. She was being good until she pushed a small child over for no obvious reason. I smacked her and she hit me on the head. I'd been intending to leave anyway but I had no choice but to immediately haul her out of there. Her behaviour may have been affected by an overdue poo (first time she has gone more than two days in quite a while now, thanks to the medication) but I have noticed a change in her recently anyway. She is a lot more sullen and prone to meltdowns, with at least one most days now. I am considering allowing her a nap once or twice a week to see if that helps.

On the plus side, Emily seems to now be able to recognise all the lower case letters, having mastered capitals nearly a year ago. She also wrote 'T', 'C', 'F', 'i' and 'E' in some Christmas cards. In the bath she asked me to spell 'vehicle' with her bath letters and on enquiry told me that it means cars, buses and lorries! I didn't even know that she knew that word.
